It’s been a busy start to 2024 with our RCV Smart Loader now shortlisted for its fourth industry awards.
This one is close to our heart as we’ve been a supporter of this award and event for many years. The Awards for Excellence in Waste and Recycling Management recognises the achievements of the sector in recycling, reuse, safety, and waste reduction.
In partnership with FCC Environment, we’ve been shortlisted for the Health and Safety Initiative of the year for the work we’ve done over the last year on the RCV Smart Loader project.
The project started in February 2023 with FCC Environment coming to us to see what we could do to help with the risks associated with using bin lifts in automatic mode. Moving swiftly to a trial in March, the data proved the system works and makes rapid changes in behaviour. In a single 4-hour collection round the data showed the number of incursions into the danger zone reduced by 75%.
The product launched officially in September 2023 and has recently completed approvals and received its declaration of conformity.
We’ll find out on May 16th if we’ve been successful at the awards ceremony held at Grosvenor Hotel, London.
