We were thrilled to come home with the Highly Commended trophy at the recent SHE Awards. The awards, which were held at The VOX in Birmingham on 1 May, celebrate the very best in safety and health across all industries.
Health and Safety Matters reported a comment from SHE Awards director Mark Sennett:
"I'd like to thank all of the entrants, sponsors and judges and everyone who attended this year's SHE Awards. It was another fantastic evening and we once again welcomed a sold out crowd of 750 people. With a record amount of entries it shows just how important these awards have become and the evening itself is now the sector's biggest night of celebration.
"Congratulations to all the winners and also to all who made the shortlist as you thoroughly deserve the recognition for all you do in keep people safe."
The award category was run by the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), for products that are new, innovative & contribute to improvements in occupational safety & health. A joint project between SiteZone Safety and FCC Environment, the RCV Smart Loader has been proven to change loading behaviours and reduce the risk to loaders when working with RCV bin lifts in automatic mode.
Gary Escott, Managing Director of SiteZone Safety enthused,
“There was stiff competition in all the categories, so to come home with the Highly Commended trophy was a real accolade. It was great to see many of our customers also shortlisted, including Fresh Start Waste and Harrington Builders.
We’re privileged to work with like-minded companies, including our partners on the project FCC Environment, who put safety at the forefront of their business.”
The project started in February 2023 with FCC Environment coming to SiteZone to see what they could do to help with the risks associated with using RCV bin lifts in automatic mode. Fast forward a year and the product is helping customers to improve loading behaviours and reduce risks, without compromising on the efficiency of collection rounds.
This is the first of four awards that SiteZone Safety and FCC Environment have been shortlisted for. The remaining three include:
- Awards for Excellence - Health and Safety Initiative of the Year
- IIRSM Barry Holt Award – Outstanding Risk Management Practice
- IIRSM Most Impactful Risk Research Project
