Last week we came home with a second Highly Commended Award for the RCV Smart Loader project. This time it was at the 21st Awards for Excellence in Waste and Recycling, run by letsrecycle.com.
The award category was Health and Safety Initiative of the year and recognises initiatives to raise health and safety standards within a waste management or recycling business, or in a relevant local authority division.
The RCV Smart Loader project’s aim was to reduce the risk to employees using bin lifts in automatic mode without compromising the operational efficiency on collection rounds. SiteZone and FCC Environment worked together to understand the frequency of the risk occurring and take steps to manage the risk, creating long term behavioural change.
