In a remarkable achievement, SiteZone Safety and long-term partner FCC Environment went home with two prestigious awards at the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) Risk Excellence Awards last month.
The first award, the Most Impactful Risk Research Project Award, was a new category for 2024 and recognises translational research projects that have been successfully applied and implemented to improve risk management.
The second accolade, the Barry Holt Award for Outstanding Risk Management Practice, recognises those who demonstrate excellence in risk management that is benefiting people, society or business.
The awards were given in recognition of the collaborative work done by both companies to research, develop, and implement the RCV Smart Loader for reducing the risk to workers when using RCV bin lifts in automatic mode.
Together, they’ve not only improved safety standards and risk awareness but also set a benchmark for other organisations to follow.
Receiving these awards proves the power of working together to make a difference. And this collaborative approach to fostering a culture of safety and risk awareness was highlighted by the judges as contributing to the win.
On winning the double, FCC Environments’ Head of Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Paul Stokes said
“We are absolutely delighted to have received both the Barry Holt Award for Outstanding Risk Management Practice for the second time and The Most Impactful Risk Research Project of the Year Award at the IIRSM Risk Excellence Awards. The projects these awards represent were joint projects between ourselves and SiteZone with whom it was a pleasure to work and with them we continue to strive for excellence. But I must also take a moment to highlight the SHEQ function within FCC. This result is positive proof that the work of my team working together with operations can deliver best in class solutions and it is even better to know that this will be shared with other operators so all of our standards across the sector continue to improve.”
